"Okay, so I promise I'm not normally this bad at getting back to people!" I knew I liked Mary Kate instantly by her first email, but by her fourth, I could tell I really actually adored her. Thorough and courteous in her well crafted replies, I knew her style of communication was right on par with what dream clients are made of. After finally meeting, and chatting for two and a half hours, it was decided - it's a match.
The day had finally arrived. I don't know if MY arrival made the day feel more upon her, but the nervous energy of Mary Kate was radiating. Her tribe was the best she could've ever picked to have by her side, and after a few words of reassurance that can be summed up with "Yes, Mary Kate, you do look absolutely breathtaking. Are you blind?", and few deep breaths, she was ready to step into her dress and start the journey to the aisle and her future husband.
Scott, on the other hand, was cool as a cucumber. The most ecstatic guy in the room, yet simultaneously the most even keeled gentleman I've ever met. Though his expression was such a tell of his excitement, bursting out of him with every mention of the day and future life ahead. Some grooms can be tough to let loose, but thankfully Scott made our jobs nearly effortless.
Dressed, revealed, revealed again, and revealed one last time, with a gasp for breath the chapel doors open to reveal the most stunning thing Scott has ever seen, his wife walking towards him for the first time.
A full Catholic service was performed, and a reception line awaited them after the musical celebration concluded. As soon as I could, I wrapped the formal family photos inside the church and told the extended family they would see the bride and groom in an hour. Once the family onlookers departed, we stepped outside to do group photos and bride and groom portraits with the most gorgeous backdrop around, the University of Dayton.
Mary Kate and Scott are unconventional, and that is completely my kind of wedding. A Catholic service, a German Heritage Club reception hall, and tacos for dinner. My heart be still. Mary Kate and Scott are the sweetest of couples, and I am so grateful they not only found one another, but then allowed me to capture their most special of moments. Cheers to my "small world" friends, you will have WAY too many more coming your way soon!
